International Museum of Arts & Science

The International Museum of Art & Science (IMAS), a Smithsonian Affiliated and accredited by the American Association of Museums is the premiere art and science museum of South Texas.

The Museum provides a unique opportunity for visitors to participate in hands-on science exhibits and to learn original works of art while engaging the creative mind. While displaying a number of revolving art and science exhibits each year IMAS also maintains a permanent collection that includes European paintings from the 16th to 19th century, Japanese prints, lithographs by Pablo Picasso and works from local and Mexican artists.

IMAS Members: Free. Tuesday – Saturday

Adults: $

Seniors (55+): $5

Students (w/ID): $5

Children (4-12 yrs.): $4

Children (0-3 yrs.): Free

First Sunday of every Month - FREE General Admission

Regular Sundays: $4 per person

Exhibits

The Discovery pavilion, a revolving exhibit space, houses four exhibit areas: Sound and Light, Creativity Central, Community-Scape and Communications. The Museum also houses the McAllen PUB Science Lab and the McAllen PUB Art Studio which host a variety of hands-on activities, that vary every week. Another fascinating, must-see exhibit is Science On A Sphere (S.O.S) which is now a permanent exhibit at the International Museum of Art & Science, located inside the IMAS Theatre.
