"Chang'An: The Ancient Capital"

Chang’an, or Xi’an, is regarded as the birthplace of Chinese civilization. It is the starting point of the Silk Road and place where more than ten dynasties established their capitals beginning with Emperor Qin. In this presentation by Dr. Kai S. Koong, participants will be introduced to some of the most famous tourist sites and delicacies in Chang’an including: the Terracotta Army Mausoleum, Qianling Mausoleum, Giant and Small Goose Pagodas, Bell Tower, Huanqing Pool, Beilin, and present day Xi’an food and snacks.

Dr. Kai S. Koong is a professor and Chair of the Department of Computer Information Systems at the University of Texas-Pan American. Dr. Koong has travelled extensively in Xi’an (Chang’an) to lead research seminars and workshops for scholars there. He is the editor-in-chief for the International Journal of Electronic Healthcare and the International Journal of Services and Standards. Dr. Koong was recently awarded an honorary Guest Professorship with the School of Economics and Management, one of China’s elite institutions for higher education, at Xidian University in Xi’an.
