Just like that, summer is here again and families across McAllen will be itching to do something fun. Stay tuned, because we’re about to give you the lowdown of all the activities this summer will have to offer.  

Town Lake at Firemen’s Park 

201 N 1^st Street

One of McAllen’s most beautiful parks boasts a 3-acre lake, a paved trail, playground and picnic areas, and a convenient location right off the 2^nd Street Hike and Bike trail! If you want to become one with the lake, the park rents pedal boats, kayaks, and paddleboards starting at just $15! And if you want to let your angler spirit roam, feel free to bring your own equipment or rent one of the park’s fishing poles with bait for only $10. And if your kids don’t know how to kayak or fish, or simply want to get competitive with your fishing abilities, Firemen’s Park has you covered:

Intro to Kayaking 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM ($25 fee)

Master the basics of kayaking as you explore town Lake!

• Ages 8 – 17 (Must be accompanies by an adult)

Learn to Fish 5:00 PM – 6:00 PM ($15 Fee)

On Wednesday you will learn the basics the fishing in a 30-minute course, then put your knowledge to the test with 30 minutes of practice. Then on Thursday enjoy a 60-minute session of fishing fun! Please note: all equipment will be provided.

Lark Community Center

Lark Community Center will be hosting a wide range of summer sessions from June 3 through August 2! This is the perfect opportunity for your kids to participate in science, physical classes, and arts & crafts!
