Palmer Drug Abuse Program – McAllen is a local non-profit that provides FREE individual and group counseling to anyone over the age of 12, who struggle with addiction. One of my favorite services offered by PDAP is our younger group, in which we offer free transportation to students aged 12-18 years old, who struggle with addiction, to attend a support group here at our office on Tuesdays & Thursdays. The students are provided with a hot meal and snacks each time they come to the group. Students are also treated to 2 REBOS events per month. REBOS is sober spelled backward and is a sober outing (such as movie theatre trips, arcade visits, petting zoos, haunted houses, RGV Viper basketball games, etc.) to help encourage our students that they can have fun without being under the influence of drugs. The best part about our younger group is that all these services are FREE.
In order to keep our services free, we are hosting our 1st Annual PDAsh 5K Run/Walk on April 1st, 2023 at Firemen’s Park – McAllen, beginning at 7:30 AM. All proceeds from this event will go directly toward our summer youth program and client services, helping us continue providing free services to the Hidalgo County community.
