Sit back and relax in the best seats in the house for an in-person small scale performance. The smaller size of the ensemble creates a beautiful sound and allows you to see the performers’ musicianship up close. Before the show, join Maestro Dabrowski for a wine reception (included in the cost of your ticket) and pre-concert conversation about the music.
The program features Mendelssohn’s String Octet in E-flat major, a distinctive piece performed by four violins, two violas, and two cellos. Felix Mendelssohn (1809–47), perhaps the most extraordinary composer–prodigy in the history of music, was just sixteen when he composed this piece. The work is known for its famous Scherzo, a fast and furious section where the music sparkles, trills, and swirls right up to the end, where it vanishes into thin air.
Don’t miss this one-night-only performance featuring the gorgeous sounds of the VSO strings! Tickets on sale now.
