March 22nd

  • Head over to the Home & Garden Show at the McAllen Convention Center happening throughout the weekend. Find everything for your home & garden in one place! There will be show only discounts available and fun activities for the whole family. Starting at 2:00 PM until 6:00 PM with a $7 admission fee.
  • Enjoy a live performance from IL Divo at the McAllen Performing Arts Center starting at 8:30 PM. Purchase your tickets online throughTicketmaster.
  • Come join Food Park Unplugged, located at 10 N Broadway, with music performance by Just The 2 Of Us from 8:00 PM until 10:00 PM! Choose from 12 different food trucks all with a variety of delicious food, and arts & craft vendors.

March 23rd

  • Register your child for the Tiny 2K Glow Run (Superhero Theme) happening at Las Palmas Community Center. Toddlers will enjoy glow sticks, music, games, and raffle prizes starting at 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM. All participants are encouraged to wear their favorite superhero t-shirt or costume!
  • Celebrate World Water Day 2019 at IMAS from 10:00 AM until 4:00 PM. Discover the importance of water and water conservation in our community!

March 24th

  • Meet vendors in the wedding/event industry while attending The Bridal Show at the Radisson Hotel – McAllen Airport starting at 1:00 PM until 6:00 PM. Tour the hotel and the Blue Bonnet Ballroom during the show. This event is free to the public.

March 15th, 16th, and 17th – A Few Things to do in McAllen for the First Weekend of Spring Break!

Friday, March 15th

  • Learn about fossils, dinosaurs, and more with Dr. Ryan from the McAllen Orthodontic Group at the McAllen Public Library! Join the event from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM. All ages are welcome.

Saturday, March 16th

  • The Price is Right Live is coming to the McAllen Performing Arts Center! It’s an interactive stage show that gives folks the chance to play classic games from television’s longest-running game show! The show starts at 8:00 PM with an admission fee ranging between $45.00 and $70.00.

  • Visit Quinta MazatlΓ‘n to celebrate Monarch Fest! Listen to live music, enjoy arts and crafts, receive a garden tour, shop at the monarch marketplace, and enjoy the bug parade!

If you’re wanting to keep the kids busy during their Spring Break week, then McAllen has what you need. All throughout the week, different events at different venues will be hosted, and each is guaranteed to be fun for the whole family. Check out our list of five family-friendly things to do in McAllen during Spring Break!

Spring Break at the Lake

March 10th – March 17th

  • This event will be held each day during Spring Break week from noon until sunset at Town Lake at Firemen’s Park (201 N. 1st).
  • Have some family fun on the lake while paddle boating, stand-up peddle boarding, kayaking, or by bringing your own floatation device.
  • Ages 16 and under can fish without a license. Ages 17 and over require a valid state fishing license.

CodeRGV’s Photoshop Spring Break Camp for Teens 2019

March 11th – March 15th

  • From March 11th until the 15th from 9:00 AM until 12:00 PM, you can learn the fundamentals of photoshop editing from CodeRGV, Inc.
  • If you don’t own a laptop, then no problem because this five-day course will provide you with one. Join our classes at the McAllen Creative Incubator at 601 N. Main St.

Spring Mixer

March 11th – March 17th

  • Explore a taste of summer from 5:00 PM until 6:00 PM at this six-day event! Swimming will be held at the McAllen Municipal Pool at 1921 N. Bicentennial Blvd. for only $2.50.
  • It will feature different activities during Spring Break such as swimming lessons, canoeing, and more!

B – The Underwater Bubble Show

Tuesday, March 12th

  • This will be an exciting show for both children and adults and will take place in Bubblelandia!
  • The show starts at 6:30 PM at the McAllen Performing Arts Center at 801 Convention Center Blvd. and will cost $65.00 for entry.

North American Jewelry & Gift Show

March 15th – March 17th

  • Shop for jewelry, beads, fashion gifts, and more at low prices! $5 will be charged at the door or get in free with an official flyer.
  • It starts on March 15th and ends on March 17th from 12:00 PM until 6:00 PM at the McAllen Convention Center (700 Convention Center Blvd.).

Friday, March 8th

  • Register your kids for Kidz Night Out at the Palm View Community Center! Kids can play in the Game Room, enjoy a movie and popcorn, make crafts, and eat pizza! The fun will last from 6:30 PM until 10:30 PM.
  • While the kids are away, the adults can play and enjoy Tacos N’ Tequila at the Chamber of Commerce! Register to taste food from the area’s top 10 local restaurants and sip on craft cocktails. The event and live music will last from 6:30 PM until 10:30 PM.

Saturday, March 9th

  • Don’t miss out on a special performance from Mike Salazar! Listen to the β€œCowboy of Comedy” joke about life and love at the McAllen Performing Arts Center. This Spanish comedy show is scheduled for 9:30 PM.
  • Join Quinta MazatlΓ‘n for Gardening for Life. Learn to cultivate your backyard to meet interesting insects! This event will last from 9:30 AM until 10:00 AM.

  • Sample BBQ at Sizzling in the Tropics Cook-Off at the McAllen Chamber of Commerce. Flavor delicious meats from 30 local BBQ teams and enjoy a classic car show! The event will be held from 12:00 PM until 5:00 PM.

 

Sunday, March 10th

  • Don’t miss the last day of the Saxet Gun Show to see the latest in outdoor gear and classic firearms! This event will be on March 9th and 10th from 10:00 AM until 6:00 PM.
  • Make time for Spring Break at the Lake! Join your family for boating, fishing, or kayaking at Fireman’s Lake. This event lasts all week long from 12:00 PM until 7:00 PM.

  • Starting at 8:00 PM, you can listen to the Valley Symphony Orchestra play soundtracks from the Big Hollywood Era.
  • Dress up and give a hooray for Hollywood at the McAllen Performing Arts Center. Tickets can be purchased online or at the box office.

McAllen Art Walk

  • Only three more McAllen Art Walks are planned before summer begins! Head out to the Art District for live music, the food park, and shopping at local vendors.
  • Places that participate include the McAllen Creative Incubator, the Old Wine House, and Stained Glass McAllen.

  • Shop for the coolest finds at the Market at Morris Middle School. You can enjoy food vendors, jewelry, and crafts. There is no entry fee for this event and will be held from 10:00 AM until 3:00 PM.
  • Take a new spin on celebrating Valentine’s Day by joining Bike McAllen’s Cupid Ride! Start riding at 5:30 PM at 112 Ash Ave. Meet new riders along the route until 7:00 PM! Get festive in your pink and red costumes! The only requirements to ride are wearing a helmet and equipping bicycle lights.

February 8th

  • Starting at noon, enjoy the 33rd Annual All Valley Boat Show at the McAllen Convention Center. Shop for all of your water sport and boating needs in time for spring break! Admission is $9 for adults, $8 for veterans and military, and kids 12 and under enter free! Senior citizens can enter for $5 on Friday only.
  • Get ready to laugh at London Grill and Tavern with Gibbs the Comegician and others, starting at 8:00 PM. Admission starts at $5.

February 9th

  • Head over to the Quinta MazatlΓ‘n presentation of β€œCreature Feature: Snakes!β€œ from 1:30 PM until 2:30 PM. For $3, you and the kids can participate in hands-on activities and learn about snakes and their habitats.
  • Laugh the evening away with actor Omar Chaparro, who will be performing Te Reto a Ser Feliz at the McAllen Convention Center at 8:00 PM. Tickets start at $35.
  • Reserve your tickets for Willie J. Law Live in McAllen. Watch Law play the blues at The Centennial Speakeasy Club for $15 from February 7th until February 9th.

February 10th

  • Learn about jazz music history at the McAllen Public Library. Hear jazz classics and stories about many music legends. This event starts at 2:00 PM.
  • Finish off your weekend at the Health Nut’s “Sippin’ on Juice & Tunes 2” event! Shop with local vendors selling homemade goods, listen to Mujer RGV play the night away, and sip on juice! The event is from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at The Health Nut!
