The Magic of the 2017 McAllen Holiday Parade

The McAllen Holiday Parade has picked up 27 Gold, 4 Silver and 1 Bronze Awards by the International Festival and Events Association, but not before being named the “Best Parade in the World”! Featuring 50 magically-illuminated floats, 34 larger-than-life inflatable character balloons, 17 bands and a celebrity-filled line-up, this year’s theme of “Magic of Christmas” will get everyone in the holiday spirit.

Parade Route

The one-and-a-half-mile long parade will be held on December 2nd at 6:00 PM, starting at McAllen Veterans Memorial Stadium at 2001 N. Bicentennial Blvd.

Getting the family to the parade won’t be difficult as the city, in partnership with South Texas College, will offer the McAllen Holiday Parade Park and Ride service from its Pecan Boulevard campus to the location drop-off. Starting at 12:00 PM on Saturday, buses will make continuous loops every 10 minutes, from a pick-up point at STC to the parade drop-off point.

Additionally, with almost 15 designated parking lots scattered from Nolana Avenue south to Pecan Boulevard, attendees are encouraged to park and get in place early to avoid road closures and traffic congestion, as approximately over 250,000 spectators will line the streets of McAllen to view the parade. Public restroom facilities will be located throughout the parade route.
